Following the terrorist attack in France yesterday we hereby release the article written by Mr. Ramfos in September of 2001 for the horrible ordeal in New York on September 11th.
New York is center and horizon. On her roads you can be thrilled by the colorful volume of people united not massively by the everyday lifework, the tender dizziness of a wind, stringed and percussion diffuse music, and mainly by the tension – not that of the depression but of the unlimited. You don’t feel anything closed: you meet the panorama of the future. You are fascinated by the mystery of the infinitely open to the locally, defined, the authenticity of a fever, from which the great city continuously reborn. In New York the urge of life itself has taken shape.
This city steps on, does not stand. You don’t feel the agony of space, that supports other gigantic buildings , and the pressure of the limits evaporates as the skyscrapers charging to the space. The skyscraper does not offer, like the Pyramids, support to the eye, so that the sight should not be lost to the equable vastly of the desert. If it provided support to the eye ,this would be against the sense of the free space.
The skyscraper is born by the eye which dives to infinity in order to share it. For not being narrowed by any limits, thanks to the skyscrapers New York raises and lines her body in connection to the time. So instead of the will to step on the ground, it steps on the will and the material becomes immaterial. This appears to the steal highs as tension, that ejects the gravity to elsewhere and else wise. Hence the drank of freedom caused by even the most typical walk about to roads of Manhattan. with the skyscrapers the space waves to light blue, while their axonometric perspective produces discontinuity, that is new time. It is not about static volumes; their form represents potential shape geometrically extending in perpetuity.

Terrorists demanded to suppress the freedom of time and space to the powers of gravity and inertia, by demolishing the twin towers of New York and making the Pentagon square. They hit the dominant, for them symbols of America. They didn’t know that America is the only country in the world that creates symbols without depending on them – that’s where her vitalizing force stands.- and they didn’t think that with their crime they would create martyrs, that the blood of the thousands innocent victims would become purgatory foundation of the new era.

We are moving to the orbit of a universalized world. You feel comfortable in Paris, in Tokyo, in

Because no mater how long the old stays, it will operate with the new conditions and with the new conditions it must be fought off. The new and hopeful is that due to technology for the first time mankind is faced on every day basis with a reality, that does not feel content with the typical knowledge and its conditions but demands from us to enter endlessly to the meaning of the facts, in the preempiric deposits , so that we succeed a way of view that should lead to an inward turn. Everything now is happening and is dealt with in the bosom of united organizations. The new reality is followed by its evil like a dark shadow. It’s urgent to comprehend all the heartbreaking events that took place in New York some days ago, other wise we are in danger to acquit inside us the atrocious crime and compensated it for thoughtlessly with other reprehensible actions of the USA, to become moral accessories and candidate victims of the justified paranoiac terrorists. After Orestea of Aishylos the crimes are judged each one separately – they are not compensated. Compensation legalizes in the consciousness and perpetuates the crime. Surely the evil cannot be destroyed in whole because it is congenital to the being; where life and pain where sun and shadow, but irregardless terrorism must be extinguished as the malefactor must be canceled out, the social consistency must be preserved, although evil does not extinguishes along with him. Cosmos’s evil cannot be cured; however we can remove it’s darkness’s.
We all have evilness and more or less we commit wrongdoings but we don’t identify ourselves with it, we do not feel proud for our evilness. This happens only when somebody cheers death, When somebody extracts without remorse his inner desert outwards as nihilistic refusal. We have been taught by Dostoyefski in his “ Possessed ”. Is it by lack that the terrorists are using among their candidates persons without parents? This fate psychic emptiness is destined to be filled by the darkness of the crazy fanaticism , a “logic “ without cracks so that some light might get through to the being. The terrorist, is not a product of his feelings as much as an instrument of evil itself. Not all the Palestinians become terrorists neither all Libyans nor all the people of Afghanistan even though they experience very difficult situations and even though they wish from the bottom of their hart for Israel to be lost from the face of the earth. And the bad ? The bad rolls to the mystery: it’s lacking of self existence and at the same time it exists, it is as the old used to say “paripostasis” something like the shadow. The good is felt by the positiveness of its being; the evil as non being, for something to be felt it must do something.
The evil shifts between necessity and possibility, with logic that of the partial and the closed, the general negativeness. When the partial demands universality then the road to the enthusiasm opens. If the evil brings forward the inner reaction of the person to the superior, reaction that reaches out to the dismemberment of the existence, as never to rise, then nihilism is the strategic target, the ultimate aim and revelation of the evil.
The first that the terrorist kills is his soul. He denies her loving nature, he does not want to listen anything about her. So he can easily kill and die. At the same time suicidal sacrifice is totally different from murderously suicide. The terrorist is not ready to die is urging to die. There is no resemblance whatsoever with the revolutionary who fights with his bare hands and gets killed on the roadblock,or with the kamikaze that falls with his aircraft on the enemy ship, putting the emperor on top of his life. Opponent of the nihilist terrorist is not an army but the being itself, that is why he exterminates innocent and defenseless people he with their contort satisfies his glutton death.
What a terrorist is created from, if he isn’t a clean product of external conditions; we should go back on purpose in the world of ideology and their role. I am not referring to whoever apprehensions about society and life I am referring to counterfeiting simplified type of speech and thought, structured with adversative shapes of good and evil, that load the receiver emotionally to the limits and they alien him very much to completely from the reality. Science points out that the politicians of the people do not constitute absolute and immovable beings. They are comprised of historical and sociological webs of meanings that provide identity and at the same time they give meaning to a variety of a life choices as to the various forms of interests. In societies that are oppressed by the changes and the beats of modern life, without developing dynamic of creative adaptation to the new conditions, the obsessions are irrigated by the national-religious zealotry. By cultivating the social nihilism and by undermining the insecurities, goes about possessively to a sterile anti-west feeling, thus turning fatigue souls to nihilism.
Chiefly that applies to countries of Islam, where the terrorist becomes the hero prototype. They are threat to life and civilization, since the modern means in the hands of even a small number of paranoiac people, may cause tremendous catastrophe.
The civilization does not eliminate the selfish interests, the competitions, brutality; sets though principals that modulate a clear area for the political game and the social being. Whether we abolish principals and rules from our lives or from the foot ball game the result would be jungle. By denying rules and margins terrorism denies exactly the civilization. In the sense that civilization of terror can neither be comprehended nor be in existence. The laws of justice above all they serve the social coherence that the terrorist wants to demolish. Not so because he becomes at the same time accuser, judge and executioner, as because he adopts the blurriness and rejects the meaning of public life itself.
The rules of public ensuring us to exist free in light, not to hide like the moles to save ourselves from the high handed act and aggressiveness of anybody. Out of Law we must either hide or ambush, since there is neither sacrificer nor victim, neither guilty nor innocent, but lucky only or unlucky barefaced and above all not innocent. We are uncharged only by the transparency that guaranties with
all its weakness and defects, the democracy. The terrorist would not have suffered the political blurriness if it was not called upon by his psychic darkness. We shall brake him down by enriching our freedom, advancing our open society. If we force him to light and we shouldn’t forget: light comes out of fire; if it wasn’t coming out of fire, soon it would be blown out. We shall resist evil if the fight against it does not multiply it, when by protecting our own being we care also for the other. This super-unity to be for the other is called universality. Protected behind the walls of the solid unity and identity, the assurance in what we are statically, we are welcoming the evil and aught; leaving the concrete unity we are going out of the wall of our identity and we hold open and wakefully the eyes of the soul for the other.
